World Ozone Day, 2026
Department of Botany, Cotton University organised International Day for the preservation of the ozone layer (World Ozone Day, 2026) on 16th September, 2026 as a part of its Centenary Year Celebration. The function was graced by special guest Prof. Parimal Ch. Bhattacharjee, Former Head, Department of Zoology, Gauhati University. Key note address was given by Prof. Madhurjya P. Bora, Department of Physics, Gauhati University.
On the same day, a poster competition was also jointly organised by Department of Botany, Cotton University, Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) and Guwahati Planetarium, Science and Technology Department, Govt. of Assam with the themes ‘Forests: Nature’s air conditioner’ for UG students and ‘Climate action begins with us’ for PG students. It was judged by Prof. Manjit Kr. Bhattacharya, Department of Chemistry, Cotton University, Dr. Satyajit Kotoki, HoD, Department of Geology, Cotton University and Mr. Parthib Kashyap Sarma, Jr. Scientific Officer, ASTEC & Curator-in-charge, Guwahati Planetarium.
