She is Associate Professor in the Department of Botany, Cotton University, Assam. She did M,Sc in Life Sciences from Dibrugarh  University in 1993 with Specialization Cytogenetics and Plant Breeding . Got Ph.D in Cytogenetic from Dibrugarh University in 1999. She joined as Research Associate in North East Institute of Science & Technology, CSIR (Former RRL),   Jorhat In 2000. In 2003 she joined as a Assistant Professor in the Department of the Department of Botany, Cotton College, became Associate Professor in 2015 and working as Associate Professor in Cotton University since 2017. Her area of Research Interest is Cytogenetics, Plant genetic diversity.


She teaches Cell Biology, Genetics, Plant Breeding and Molecular Biology.
