About

Dr. Himu Roy is an Asssitant Professor in the Department of Botany, Cotton University. He is from Jogighopa of Bongaigaon district of Assam. He joined Cotton University in November 2015. He completed his school education from Jagiroad H.S. School, did his H.S. & B.Sc (Botany) from Jagiroad College (Gauhati University), and M.Sc from Gauhati University with Angiosperm Taxonomy as a special paper. He was awarded Ph.D in 2013 by Gauhati University for his work on “Taxonomic Studies on Pteridophytes: Fern-allies of Assam”.

His area of interest is Plant Taxonomy.

Coordinated and completed ASTECS (Assam Science Technology and Environment Council, Department of Science & Technology, Assam) sponsored project entitled “Sensitization on Biodiversity and Climate Change”. A sensitization programe has been organized in Silapathar Science College, on 28th February, 2015.

Co-PI in an in-house project entitled “ DNA Barcode for molecular identification of bamboo species of North East India”
